Above are some of the covers for The Pillows. After finishing up FLCL, which is a strange but good anime (and only 6 episodes, not like it took away a chunk of your life if you don’t like it) I noticed a song or two that I had circling my head. After looking up FLCL’s music, I realized 99% of the music from there is done by The Pillows. I’ve taken a huge liking to their music and only have 3-4 songs on my iPod right now. I am making a point to search for more as it’s probably not particularly hard to find. If you want a preview, go to Gendou and download a couple of their songs from FLCL. I particularly like I Think I Can and Ride on Shooting Star.

/edit – Just kidding, I managed to get my hands on basically all their songs. Kim Deal and Funny Bunny are also amazing.

Synopsis –
M×0 centers around a young man named Kuzumi Taiga who has a hot-headed temper and is able to hold his own in a fight. During an interview to determine if he can attend Seinagi Private High School (私立聖凪高校 Shiritsu Seinagi Kōkō?) that he had plans of joining, Taiga is asked what he would do if he could use magic. “Take over the world” is his reply and it is quickly followed by an outburst of laughter from a very cute girl. Upon confronting the girl, she realizes how rude it was of her to laugh at his answer and tries to apologize, ultimately grasping his hands with tears in her eyes. After that point, he does not remember much else about the interview, but one thing he cannot change: he failed to enter the school. Blaming the girl for his failing to enter the school, he goes to Seinagi to confront her about it, when a teacher mistakes Taiga for a student ditching class and pulls him through some type of strange energy barrier that surrounds the school. Without realizing what has just happened, he has set foot on a school dedicated to teaching its students how to use magic, though the shock of his first encounter with it freaks him out so much that he tries to get away from the teacher as fast as he can, effectively convincing the latter that he is a suspicious person. After a confrontation where he is hit with a rather odd spell, he is able to tie the teacher up and run away. Unfortunately, he gets into some more trouble with some upperclassman and during this time is surprised to have found the girl from the interview attending the school. His main priority is then changed from merely survival in a strange land to finding this girl and conveying his feelings of romantic attraction to her, which have most suddenly become clear to him.

Before long, however, he runs into the same teacher from before and has yet another fight with him. All the teacher wants to do is erase his memory of the school in order to keep the place a secret from the outside world, but Taiga still has to tell the girl how he feels. During the fight, despite not knowing any magic whatsoever, Taiga dodges the teacher’s attacks and by some dumb luck subdues the teacher once again, completely incapacitating him. At this point, who should appear but the girl he’s been searching for, who screams out to her father who was just beaten by Taiga. Angry at what he’s done, the girl, whose name is Hiiragi Aika, uses her own magic and blows him away.

Later on, due to various circumstances surrounding strict rules of the school, Taiga is admitted into the school but with only one difference from all the other students: he can’t use magic. He must now try to survive in a school of magic and try to fool the entire school that he’s a powerful mage at the same time. – Wikipedia

I got sucked in like Taiga. I was like…”Sure, I’ll check out the first one or two chapters and see how it goes.” Then I saw Aika pleading for Taiga to not be mad at her. Holy god. Besides the obvious fact that Aika is an angel, the story is amusing and interesting at the same time. And for some reason, I always find the main girl’s best friend cuter than see is. For example, Hashiba Miki instead of Suzuka. (Or Honoka.) In this case, it’s Mikuni.

It’s at 52 chapters and ongoing, so catch up so you can keep up with it as it goes! As always, Onemanga it.

Over 10000 views. /thanks to people who visited.

Pretty self explanatory. Feedback is welcome. I know that the big black space in the middle is unattractive, but I decided to stop instead of filling it with something I didn’t like. And it was late.

Ah, I’ve been wanting to review this anime for a while, as I finished it as soon as the last episode came out. Just been too lazy to type it up. I’ll say this right away though. This anime is nothing short of spectacular.

Synopsis – Yagami Light is an ace student with great prospects, who’s bored out of his mind. One day he finds the “Death Note”: a notebook from the realm of the Death Gods, with the power to kill people in any way he desires. With the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create his perfect world, without crime or criminals. However, when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer, and a battle of wits, deception and logic ensues…

This anime is a logical plot based mind screw with less action than your average anime, but that doesn’t stop it from having you on your seat second guessing what’s coming up. Be warned – you need to start watching this if you haven’t. Also…make sure you have an ample amount of time or a strong resistance to watching them back to back. I, along with most of my friends, started this and couldn’t stop till we blew through (at least) the first 10 episodes.

I really can’t talk much more about it without giving stuff away, so go see it for yourself! It’s licensed now, so it’ll be harder to find if you want it for free. I don’t see Veoh having the complete collection, but there are random episodes dotted there. Your best bet would be to just buy it :X

I blew through this series really fast due to getting sick from overwork/messing up my hours in the day. I had worked 13-15 hrs for 2 days, had a hectic weekend then ended up going in at 6:30 in the morning on Monday. Needless to say, my body got pretty messed up and Tuesday morning it gave a heavy no-go when I tried to get up to go to work. There goes the overtime bonus ><. Oh well…anyway, the free hours I had resulted in lying in bed to get more rest and watching this series.

Synopsis – Aoba Riku has just transferred to a new high school because of his father’s job, and things aren’t quite what he expected. The headmaster’s secretary controls the school while espousing the virtues of academic freedom, the teachers are even stranger than normal teachers, and half the student body is walking around with animal ears on. On his very first day, Riku is unfortunate enough to find himself at the center of the student council’s latest event, which has him running for his life. All this on top of the normal high school rigour of popularity contests, crushes, and homework makes it unsure whether Riku will be able to survive this new school. -As from ANN.

This series is a romantic one (as if you couldn’t tell from the title) but really beats around the bush and focuses on comedy for the first half of the episodes pretty much. The main character Riku transfers to the new private school to be welcomed by a strange sight of weird head accessories Student Council “Events”. Nothing serious happens in the first half, but it introduces the three main girls.

Synopsis –

Riiko Izawa has never had a boyfriend and she has been rejected by every boy she has ever had a crush on. When she returns a lost cell phone to an oddly dressed salesman, he directs her to his company’s website as a way to thank her. Riiko unwittingly ends up ordering a “figure” which will be her boyfriend with the intention of returning him after the free three day trial order.

After her three-day trial is over, Riiko finds that she cannot return her perfect mail-order boyfriend (whom she has named “Night”) and is stuck with a bill for 100,000,000 yen (approximately 1 million USD). The mysterious salesman, Namikiri Gaku, tells her the company will waive the bill if she will help them collect data about women’s feelings, and data about their mental and physical structures in order to perfect future “Nightly Lover” models.

Unbeknownst to Riiko, her next-door neighbor and childhood friend, Sōshi Asamoto, has a crush on her which he strives to hide by frequently teasing her. He has promised her mother that he will watch over Riiko while her parents are away, and when he sees Riiko with her new “boyfriend,” his jealousy creates the central love triangle of the series.

Riiko must keep Night’s true nature of an inhuman being a secret from everyone around her while struggling to decide if she loves Night, despite being a “figure” who seems to be developing true emotions, or Sōshi, who has loved her since childhood. – Wikipedia

A semi-short manga (33 chapters), I found this entertaining but somewhat….lame at the same time. While it’s great that they try to play off the normal love triangle effect, this isn’t really fair in my opinion as Night is a figure, not a human. It’s an good romance manga to check out regardless, as it’ll provoke some thoughts about morality. Check it out at Onemanga as always.

Spoilers if you read on. I warned you o_O

[From left to right] Huang, Yin, Hei, Mao.

For those who haven’t started watching Darker Than Black, why haven’t you? :P Though I’d have the say the anime I seriously couldn’t stop watching for at least 10 episodes was Death Note, (I have yet to blog about this one. I have a draft saved since it’s SOOOO GOOD) Darker Than Black definitely has my interest. Latest episode is 19 right now. It has a good mix of action and character development. I especially like watching Yin and Hei. Doll and contractor respectively, they both exceed their stereotypes as emotionless.

I has a Yin. :)

Man her eyes are big.

That’s right. From KyoAni (Kyoto Animation) who did Haruhi and Air are going to bring you Clannad, airing on Oct. 4th. Seeing as to how most of us can’t decipher moonspeak, we’ll just have to look out for it after it’s translated :P. In my opinion, even if the animation of the characters look way too similar to that of Kanon, this series looks like it has a lot of promise. Not to mention I’ve always been inclined towards slice of life ^_^

I’ll try to make another post on this if I find out what sites will be picking it up as projects. Torrents (Lolifox hint hint) are always another good way to make sure you get stuff fast.
